Job summary

Goldsworth Medical Practice is looking for a Health Care Assistant with experience of working in a GP Practice in the UK to join our friendly, welcoming, and innovative GP Practice.

We are located in Woking and delivering care to over 13,000 patients, achieving high QOF performance and maintaining a Good CQC-rated service. We are seeking an experienced, motivated and forward-thinking Health Care Assistant who enjoys General Practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Using technical equipment to safely draw blood from patients
  • Explaining the process of drawing blood clearly to a patient
  • Reassuring and calming patients who might be nervous or scared of the procedure
  • Applying dressings to the wound created by drawing blood
  • Registering the blood and storing it in the correct environment
  • Sending blood samples to testing laboratories
  • Keeping track of blood samples and results that are returned after testing
  • Updating patient records
  • Maintaining an organised and clean work area based on health and safety regulations and the guidelines of the medical institution
  • Answering patient questions regarding collection techniques and offering additional resources on the collection process, if the patient requests them

We are a training practice with medical students and GP registrars. We work in conjunction with our PCN onsite Clinical pharmacists three practice nurses and two HCA. As a practice, we believe in delivering the highest standards of care for our patients and place a particular emphasis on disease prevention, patient education, personalised and proactive care.

Participate in stock takes - Assist with call and recall of patients -Chaperoning duties - Lifestyle advice to patients - Use clinical system Emis Web - to record all patient contacts - Participate / contribute to practice team meetings - Ensure all consultations and treatments are accurately recorded and coded in the patient record and appropriate templates are used Administration - Attend and participate in practice meetings as required - Assist with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being - Assist with seasonal and other special projects as requested - Other ad hoc tasks as required.
