GP Receptionist/Administrator

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Receptionist/Administrator to join our friendly and supportive GP practice team in Leamington for 20 hours a week covering a range of both morning (07:30-12:30) and afternoon (13:30-18:30) shifts.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who ideally already has experience working in a GP surgery or for someone who enjoys working in a busy patient-facing environment. The role offers a mix of reception and administrative responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who is organised, proactive and confident working as part of a team. This position would particularly suit someone who is confident working in a fast-paced primary care environment.

We are a warm, welcoming and collaborative practice where patient care and staff support are at the heart of everything we do.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients and the wider practice team, ensuring patients receive a professional, efficient and compassionate service.

Previous experience working in a GP practice is preferred but not essential.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve a combination of reception and administrative tasks, including providing a professional and welcoming first point of contact for patients, managing incoming telephone calls and patient enquiries as well as booking and managing patient appointments.

The successful candidate will also support the clinical and management teams with administrative duties, maintaining accurate patient records using the EMIS clinical system and processing documents including scanning and coding patient information.

  • To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
  • To work in accordance of written protocols.
  • Patient navigation/signposting to various services.
  • Scanning, filing and readcoding documents

Reception

  • Receiving patients
  • Consulting with members of practice clinical teams
  • Navigation of patients to correct services and appointments
  • Be able to cover for annual leave/sickness when required

Appointments

  • Process appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.

Computer

  • Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records.
  • Process patients change of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area).

Telephone

  • Have working knowledge of our new cloud telephony telephone system (training given).

Other Tasks

  • Adhere to practice policies
  • Any other tasks allocated by Managers
