Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity available for Healthcare Assistant (HCA), to join a friendly and welcoming GP Surgery in a central Norwich.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, be a good team player, and be able to assist colleagues to ensure the highest possible standard of care is provided to our registered patients.

Experience of working in Primary Care, together with a knowledge of the SystmOne clinical system is desirable.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities,

  • Phlebotomy
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • ECGs
  • Health checks and NHS Health Checks
  • Basic wound care and dressings
  • Assisting with chronic disease reviews
  • Health promotion including weight, height and lifestyle advice
  • Diabetic pre assessments and foot checks
  • Administering B12, flu and other vaccinations
  • Urine checks

Additional Responsibilities,

  • LD and ADHD checks
  • Dementia reviews
  • Supporting minor surgery clinics

  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Competence in ECGs
  • Competence in venepuncture, including recording height, weight, BP, and pulse
  • Ability to perform chaperone duties
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong IT skills
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
