A Practice Nurse plays a key role within a General Practice, delivering highquality, patientcentred nursing care as part of the primary care team. They work closely with GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Health Care Assistants, and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to support the health and wellbeing of the practice population

1. Chronic Disease Management
Provide structured reviews for long term conditions such as:
- Asthma
- COPD
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Cardiovascular disease
- Develop personalised care plans and provide patient education.
- 2. Treatment Room Duties
- Wound assessment and management
- Dressings and suture removal
- Ear irrigation
- ECG recording
- Urinalysis
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Contraceptive advice (nonprescribing)
- 3. Immunisation & Vaccination
- Childhood immunisations
- Travel vaccinations
- Seasonal flu and COVID19 vaccinations
- Adult vaccinations as per national schedules4. Health Screening & Preventative Care
- Cervical cytology (if trained)NHS Health Checks
- Lifestyle advice: smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol advicE
- Health promotion within the practice population
- 5. Clinical Quality & Governance
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records
- Contribute to QOF, audits, and quality improvement projects
- Adhere to infection prevention and control standards
- Support safeguarding processes for adults and children
