Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Health Care Assistant to join our existing Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join us in a new modern built GP training and teaching practice.

Support to develop your experience and opportunity for additional training will be provided.

Full time/part time/job share will be considered.

Salary will be dependent on experience and qualification.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate would be required to support clinicians with patient care.

Someone who has a good understanding of the role, is flexible, friendly, has good customer care skills as well as clinical knowledge.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Undertake new patient health checks

Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes

Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately

Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required

Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics

Carry out BMI checks as directed

Act as a chaperone as required

Undertake venipuncture

Administer flu/B12/Pneumococcal vaccinations

Carry out ECGs as requested

Conduct Glucose Tolerance Clinics under the supervision of the practice nurse/GP

Support GP with Learning Disabilities checks

Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation

Provide support during minor operations as required

Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session

Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance

Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy

Home visits

Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
