Job summary

Garland House Surgery is a long-established and highly regarded training practice operating from excellent surgery premises in Darfield and Wath Upon Dearne, good transport links only 10-15 minutes from the M1 and A1. Our list size is 12,000 patients.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HCA to join our team.

Main duties of the job

To provide nursing support to the Nurses and General Practitioners to ensure the efficient and effective provision of the full range of nursing services to the patients of the Practice.

About us

The successful candidate will join our friendly and supportive practice team of 6 GP partners, 1 practice nurse, 1 HCA and our large administration team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical

1.To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Nurses, Nurse Practitioner and General Practitioners

2.Assistance at clinics ensuring patient care by chaperoning and assisting patients to dress and undress

3.Conduct weight and height measurements, test and record blood pressure and blood sugar levels

4.The testing and result recording of clinical specimens

5.Provide assistance in minor operations ensuring patient care by chaperoning

6.Venepuncture and the taking and preparing of pathology samples

7.Undertake ECG and Spirometry testing

8.Assist with the provision of health checks for both newly registered patients and the over 75s

9.The collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal

10.The ongoing cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces, preparing treatment rooms prior to use

11.Ensure adequate infection control procedures in treatment and consulting rooms

Administration

12.The checking and recording of medical supplies on receipt

13.The inputting of information onto the Practice clinical system

General

14.To ensure adequate clinical stock levels and medical stationery and maintain an effective stock management system

15.Ensure adequate stock levels in stock room, treatment rooms, fridges and cupboards

16.Any other reasonable duties which may be requested from time-to-time
