Granville House Medical Centre is looking for an experienced Care Navigator/Reception Administrator to join our friendly practice team.
If you enjoy variety in your work, in a busy environment and have excellent IT and customer service skills then this job is ideal.
Teamwork is an essential part of general practice and we are looking to recruit a good team player.
Regular hours may include 7.30am start or 6.30pm finish so flexibility is required.
The role is subject to satisfactory references and DBS check.
Main duties of the job
The role is for someone that is enthusiastic, hardworking, organised and enjoys working in a fast paced, supportive environment.
With excellent communication skills and a compassionate and friendly nature, you will be the first contact for our patients, therefore customer service experience preferably in a patient facing environment is desired.
You will support clinical and administration staff along with the management team to provide excellent care to our patients and fulfil administrative functions that support the running of the practice.
May be opportunity to progress to senior role in future for right candidate.

Job responsibilities
- Support the triaging GP in arranging patient appointments with the most suitable healthcare professional or service (e.g., GP, nurse, pharmacist, social prescriber).
- Act as first point of contact for patients both in person or over the telephone - creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Handle patient communications professionally and empathetically, including telephone, online and face-to-face interactions.
- Help patients with their queries and signpost them to the correct service.
- Remain calm and prioritise tasks whilst working in a busy environment, frequently dealing with competing demands from both patients and the practice team.
- Work closely with the clinical and admin teams ensuring the day to day clinics run smoothly and keep a calm reception area for the patients to feel comfortable and looked after.
- Perform and support clinicians with administration tasks and prescription/medication admin in line with practice policies and also as delegated.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records through data entry, coding, scanning, and updates using EMIS and Accurx systems.
- Help maintain a tidy and organised reception and waiting area.
- Work collaboratively as part of the practice team to ensure a high standard of care.
- Ensure samples are processed and collected in line with infection control guidelines.
- Opening/closing procedures.
- Promote confidentiality, equality, and professionalism at all times.
- Contribute to effective team communication and practice improvements.
- All staff should be prepared to undertake a variety of tasks, as required by the business, which may be subject to change from time to time.
- Flexibility to provide cover for holidays or sickness absence of colleagues when necessary.
