We have an exciting opportunity for aPhysician Associateto join our team at Woodland Surgery in Greenwich.

Main duties of the job

The Physician Associate will work collaboratively with the rest of the team to meet the needs of the patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures. The PA will provide a holistic and clinical service, with support from GPs as required, implementing agreed management plans and following approved protocols as appropriate.

The PA will be expected on a typical day to carry out some home visits and consult with patients who present on the day and via booked appointments. The successful candidate will undertake face to face, telephone and online consultations for emergency or routine problems, as determined by the Practice, including management of patients with long-term conditions.

They will also review and act appropriately on blood results and referrals/ correspondence, regarding their patients. Working with a dedicated supervisor, the post holder will work independently with appropriate support. The level and type of mentorship and supervision will be dependent on the post holders skills and knowledge and determined by the organisations clinical governance arrangements.

Therefore, the successful candidate must evidence the following knowledge, training and experience:

Postgraduate Diploma/Master in Physician Associate (formally Physician Assistant) from an accredited UK University

Member of Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes registration on the UK Physician Associate Register (The Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR)) until such time that the statutory regulation of PAs is achieved.

Valid national certification and recertification every six years as stipulated by PAMVR.

Experience of working in General Practice

Minor illness/ acute care management

Experience in examination of adults and children

Advanced clinical skills and experience of using these in different situations

Excellent ability to make clinical decisions

Ability to assess, treat and diagnose adults and children

IT Literate/ proficient use of computer

Maintains CPD requirements of 50 hours per year (25 Type 1 and 25 Type 2)

Team player/ ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and other members of the team

Key Working Relationships Summary

Clinical Lead:The PA will work alongside the Clinical Lead for the service, upholding clinical compliance, performing clinical audit and providing leadership and guidance.

Practice Manager: The PA reports operationally to the Practice Manager for operational matters such as rota planning, annual leave and sickness
