Job summary
St Thomas Road Surgery are a small and friendly General Practice who are looking to recruit a committed, enthusiastic and team-orientated staff member to join our busy administration team.
Previous experience of working in a GP practice would be advantageous, although full training will be given for the right candidate.
You would be working Monday to Friday, 20 to 25 hours per week, hours of work to be agreed. You would be need to be flexible if required to cover annual leave or sickness.
Main duties of the job
Must be a good team player with excellent computer skills, self-motivated, have a polite manner and flexible approach.
The ideal candidate must be able to undertake a
wide range of duties, including:
- Typing referral letters and reports (including
audio typing),
- GP links
- Processing and scanning of incoming correspondence
- Coding clinical information from clinical letters into patient records
- Dealing with GP and patient
queries,
- Clinical searches
- Photocopying and SARS requests
- Filing
- Inviting patients for Long Tern Condition (LTC) reviews.
- Assisting with seasonal vaccination appointment invites and clinics.
- Must have excellent written and oral
communication skills, excellent IT skills using MS Word and Excel, manage
deadlines, prioritise workload and work as part of a team.

We are based in the centre of Featherstone with a good CQC rating.
We are a teaching Practice and use SystmOne.

- Type letters, reports and other documents as required by the partners, Practice Manager and other team members
- Liaise with hospital and community departments regarding patient care, appointments, etc.
- Ensure telephone enquiries are dealt with in a courteous and timely manner and take messages as appropriate
- Process GP Links on a daily basis
- Print summaries and attached documentation from patient notes for inclusion in Lloyd George envelopes and onward transmission to PCSE when patients leave the Practice
- Enter new registrations and temporary registrations onto the computer
- Tidy all Lloyd George envelopes received into the Practice ensuring all papers are in date order and neatly filed
- Raise invoices for solicitors/insurance requests and mark off payments
- Ensure all SARS requests are carried out in a timely manner
- Arrange for the shredding of confidential information on a regular basis
- Ensure filing is kept up-to-date
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
- Carry out scanning and electronic import of clinical documents as per written procedures, ensuring accuracy of appending to electronic patient record.
- Carry out coding of clinical documents as per written procedures, ensuring accuracy of appending to electronic patient record. Direct documents to appropriate practice team or clinician, or take necessary action / put appropriate follow-up in place, where appropriate
