Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced healthcare support worker to join our busy GP practice.
Working with the practice team to deliver clinical services to our registered patient population in a caring, empathetic and efficient manner.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a strong work ethic to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team.
The post will be for 24 hours per week, working specifically on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Support Worker.
Phlebotomy/venepuncture clinics
Baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure monitoring using a manual sphyg as well as OMRON machine, temperature, pulse rate, height, weight, BMI, urinalysis dipstix, recording findings accurately
Management of chronic disease clinics and housebound reviews (long term conditions) asthma, diabetes (foot pulse checks), hypertension, CKD, CHD, PAD, AF, COPD
Carry out NHS Healthchecks and High Risk Reviews
Act as a chaperone/assistant as required
Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation efficiently
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
ECGs
Ear Syringing
ABPI Doppler
MOCA
Vaccinations flu, COVID, pneumo, shingles, B12
Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
Support the practice to achieve high quality of care for patients/carers and meet the requirements of QOF and other contractual indicators.
About us
The practice is based in the centre of Unsworth, on the outskirts of Bury town centre, near to the motorway network.
We have a dedicated clinical team comprising of 4 x GP Partners, Salaried GP, 2 x Practice Nurses, 1 x Healthcare Support Worker (TNA) who work collaboratively with our ARRS team (physios, pharmacists, mental health worker, learning disability co-ordinator, care co-ordinator, social prescriber, acute visiting team) and our friendly reception/administrative team.
