Practice Nurse

Job summary

Due to the retirement/reduction in hours of a long serving member of our team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced practice nurse to join us.

We are looking for a candidate who is caring and enthusiastic to work within our friendly practice team comprising of 4 GP Partners, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Support Worker, admin and reception staff. We work closely with our ARRS colleagues in the PCN - physio, mental health team and pharmacists.

The role will be varied and cover all aspects of Practice Nursing including chronic disease management.

We are a training practice and would consider applications from newly qualified nurses interested in the practice nurse position.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the Role

• Chronic disease reviews / Long Term Conditions monitoring
• Cervical Cytology
• NHS Healthchecks (using Skyline)
• Vaccinations and Immunisations (including childhood imms)
• Administer injections (depo, B12, flu, COVID, pneumo, shingles)
• Removal of Sutures
• Health promotion
• Urinalysis
• ECGs
• Venepuncture
• Ear syringing
• Providing contraceptive advice/pill checks

• Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
• Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
• Following agreed clinical protocols
• On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
• Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

Our practice team comprises of 4 GP Partners, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Support Worker, admin and reception staff.

We work closely with our ARRS colleagues in the PCN - physio, mental health team and pharmacists.

We are a training practice working with GP Specialist Trainees and medical students.
