Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced Practice Manager or senior healthcare operational leader with strong organisational and interpersonal skills. You will be comfortable working collaboratively with GP partners and supporting a multidisciplinary team. You will be financially astute; able to manage budgets, maximise income, streamline workflows and optimise workforce productivity to ensure the practice operates sustainably and profitably.

Experience in general practice management, workforce leadership, financial oversight and regulatory compliance is desirable.

Myrtle Group Practice is an established GP practice serving patients across the communities of Heswall and Pensby on the Wirral Peninsula.

The practice operates across two sites:

  • Commonfield Road Surgery, Heswall
  • Pensby Surgery

We provide comprehensive NHS primary care services to a large and diverse patient population, with a strong focus on accessible, high-quality care and collaborative working.

Role Purpose

The Practice Manager is the senior non-clinical leader of Myrtle Group Practice and holds overall responsibility for strategy, governance, organisational risk, and external assurance.

As the Practice Manager, the post-holder provides strategic leadership across all non-clinical functions, ensuring the practice is well-led, compliant, sustainable, and continuously improving. The role acts as the principal interface between the Partners and external bodies including commissioners, regulators, and system partners.

Operational delivery is delegated through appropriate leadership structures; the Practice Manager retains ultimate responsibility for outcomes, performance, and risk.

Lead the development, implementation, and review of the practice vision and strategic plan, ensuring alignment with patient needs, contractual requirements, and system priorities.

Provide strategic advice, challenge, and insight to the GP Partners to support informed decision-making.

Foster a culture of openness, learning, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
