Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated
person who has a passion for delivering
excellent patient care. The successful candidate should be confident,
professional with excellent telephone skills with the ability to
multi-task. GP practice experience is
desirable but not essential as training will be given.
About us
Our practice has been
established in the Heswall area for over 40 years and is proud to maintain a
high QOF achievement and be CQC rated as 'Good in all areas'. We are a large
practice that serves the population of Heswall and its surrounding areas with a
current list size of approximately 17000. Our premises were purpose built in
2014 to provide bright and comfortable surroundings in which a comprehensive
range of health services can be offered, including minor operations.
Our team consists of 14 GPs,
2 ANPs, and a team of practice nurses supported by a skilled group of auxiliary,
administrative and reception staff. We have a progressive attitude, are a very
forward-thinking surgery with a passion for delivering excellent patient care
and are always looking for new ways to work innovatively and efficiently.
We are situated within
easy reach of Manchester, Chester, Liverpool and North Wales.

Job responsibilities
Open
building, switch on lights and computers, ensure the rooms are prepared for the
day
Answer
on-call phone from 8am 8.30am
Respond
to all requests for assistance from patients, visitors and doctors
Pass
on any calls to appropriate staff.
Record all messages
Book
appointments giving the most appropriate available, ie Nurse or GP adhering
to care navigation
Ensure
patients who need urgent attention are seen using appointment guides
Endeavour
to answer the telephone within 3 rings
Explain
formal requirements and practice procedures to new patients, temporary
residents and private patients
Record
all requests for home visits. Inform the
GP if you are concerned about the patients welfare. After 12 noon, inform the GP on-call to visit
and informing the GP Assistant.
Requests for telephone calls to be
tasked to the GP being clear and concise.
Book domiciliary phlebotomy for
patients
Keep working environment tidy and
ensure kitchen is kept tidy
Empty the dishwasher
Open all post daily
Post any outgoing mail daily
Ensure repeat prescription requests
are actioned within 2 full working days
Action fax and email requests from
consultants
Action tasks as appropriate
When sending referral forms, add details
on to the patients medical record. For
2 week rules, await confirmation and then file.
Close all computers down in the
evening
