Job summary
Main duties will be to support GPs with administrative tasks and, if
appropriate, some basic clinical duties, enabling GPs to make the best use of
consultation time. The post-holder will form part of our multi-disciplinary,
primary-care team.
Main duties of the job
Managing incoming and outgoing clinical
correspondence
Extracting information from clinical documents
that require coding;
Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and
follow-up appointments;
Completing basic (non-opinion) forms, and core
elements of some forms, for the GP to approve and sign. These might include
insurance, mortgage and benefits agency forms, for example;
Assisting with practice and GP tasks being the
first point of contact for GP admin requests
Helping the GP liaise with outside
organisations including hospitals and community services as required on behalf
of GPs.
Managing and reviewing care plans;
To undertake audits including identifying
patients with high DNA rates and frequent attenders who may require further
support including, for example, referral to a social prescriber.
Organising some MDT meetings
Communicate effectively via email, telephone,
written and face-to-face communication according to guidelines and customer
care standards.
Ensuring timely and accurate
handling of messages / tasks, ensuring all unresolved or urgent matters are
prioritised.
