Job summary
We are looking to welcome an experienced, qualified and enthusiastic General Practice Nurse to work at our friendly Luton based surgery with 12,000 patients. The Practice Nurse role is full-time, ideally working four days, but can be flexible for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
These are the skills we are looking for in our candidate but training will be given if required.
To document consultations according to NMC guidelines
Management of a long-term condition such as Diabetes, COPD,
Asthma, Cardiovascular or Dementia.
Cervical Cytology
Childhood & Travel immunisations
Travel advice
Routine immunisations: Flu, Shingles & B12
Removal of sutures
Basic wound care/ulcer care
Urinalysis
ECG
Peak Flow readings
Blood pressure measurements.
Ear syringing
Nebulisers
Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings.
Basic pathology test requests.
Responsible for stock rotation and ordering,
infection control ensuring we comply with CQC
About us
We are a friendly urban practice with over 12,000 patients and use SystmOne clinical system. We are a forward thinking practice with medical students and GP trainees. We are a 7 partner practice, with 2 full-time Practice Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants and a large admin and reception team who work well together. Great working atmosphere.
We belong to the Medics PCN and as a practice are fortunate to have the skills of a physicians associate, physiotherapists, clinical pharmacists and care co-ordinators. All 5 practices within our PCN work very well together sharing knowledge and supporting each other.
