Job summary
Assist and
direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional
in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Providing general assistance to the Practice Team with a positive and friendly manner to patients and other visitors on the telephone and face to face. To have good communication skills, to be able to work under pressure, to be able to take their own initiative, to be able to deal with confrontation at the desk or over the telephone, to be able to prioritise when needed and to be flexible when cover is needed for staff holidays or staff sickness.
To have some knowledge on IT and software as the role does have some admin tasks to deal with.
Postholder must be
signed in 10mins before starting time ensure the smooth running of the
practice.
Main duties of the job
Reception: Answering incoming calls, booking/cancelling appointments over the phone and at the desk, dealing with queries, assisting patients to the correct healthcare providers, dealing with prescriptions, dealing with incoming emails, new registration, opening and closing the practice, making sure that all clinical rooms are tidy and replenished, making sure the waiting area is tidy, photo copying, dealing with the incoming post, dealing with visitors and covering their colleagues while on leave/sick leave.
Attending relevant training and meetings.
About us
Our Practice is a very busy practice, we have 3250 patients on our list which is increasing, there are 2 partners, 1 practice nurse, 1 Healthcare Assistant, 1 Care Co-Ordinator, 4 reception/admin team, 1 Practice manager and other healthcare professionals that attend the practice from other organisations. We are a friendly team that work very closely together.
The practice is based in the Croydon area the building is a converted house.

- To work in accordance of written protocols
- Pulling/filing notes for surgeries if required.
- Dealing with incoming emails.
- Photocopy as requested.
- Receiving registrations from new patients Obtaining all the relevant information and checks.
- Receiving patients change of address have knowledge of Practice area.
- Receiving repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines
- Receiving patients consulting with members of Practice team
