Birley Health Centre Operational Lead
The closing date is 25 January 2026
Job summary
Do you enjoy being in the thick of it, solving problems, making things work, in a role that really makes a difference?
This is a role for a practical, thoughtful problem-solver who can juggle multiple priorities, make good decisions with imperfect information, and keep calm when lots of things arrive at once - because they will.
If you like quiet, predictable work with clear answers every time, this probably isn't for you. If you like spinning plates, supporting people, and making real things happen with a supportive, hard-working team - keep reading.
What the role is really like
Multiple challenges come in various routes in, all day long. Staff queries. Emails. Messages. Patient issues.
Often there's no obvious right answer. You'll need to use common sense, judgement, and values to decide what matters most, what can wait, and how to solve problems sensibly and kindly.
You'll always be busy. You'll be surrounded an amazing team, that may often feel more like a family. And you'll genuinely have the freedom to make a difference to our team and our community - every single day.
Pay
£29,000 to £35,000 a year pro rata.
Part time, flexible, over 4-5 short days. May suit someone with child care.
Main duties of the job
About 50% Keeping the practice running smoothly You'll lead the day-to-day operations of the practice, making sure things are safe, reliable, and well coordinated for both patients and staff. You'll spot issues early, fix problems, and keep the wheels turning even on the busiest days.
About 25% Supporting and developing people You'll recruit, support and develop staff, helping teams feel confident, capable and valued. This is about enabling people to do their best work - not micromanaging them.
About 12.5% Governance and compliance You'll oversee systems, processes and records to make sure we meet regulatory standards and stay safe, accurate and organised.
About 12.5% Communication and coordination You'll coordinate meetings and information flow across the practice and with external partners, and manage outward-facing communication so patients and the community have clear, accessible and up-to-date information.
