Job summary
Bugbrooke Medical Practice is a well-respected and
established GP surgery providing primary care services to approximately 10,900
patients. The surgery is a rural practice located in the village of Bugbrooke. The practice values high clinical standards and aims for an excellent patient experience.
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time dispenser to join our busy, friendly
and experienced dispensary team. As part of the dispensary team you will be the
first port of call for any medication questions or issues that patients need
help with. Customer service is an integral part of the role, and the ability to
cope under pressure in a busy environment is a must.
We
are looking for an enthusiastic, professional and hardworking individual who
demonstrates excellent communication skills and is able to prioritise workload.
Previous experience in a GP setting and in using SystmOne would be
advantageous, but not essential. Training would
be provided for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role are to ensure
that all patients have their medication requests processed in a safe and timely manner. It is desirable for the candidate to be an experienced Dispenser
who holds NVQ Level 2 in dispensing or equivalent but this is not essential,
training would be provided for the right candidate.
Other duties will consist of:
- Customer service and the ability to problem
solve are important skills.
- You will be labelling and assembling
prescriptions for dispensing patients.
- Handing out medication and dealing with
face to face queries.
- Handling payments
- Stock management, including
stocking shelves and refrigerators
- Liaise with other healthcare professionals.
- Dealing with the day to day running of
pharmacy, including maintaining a clean and tidy working environment.
- Working in accordance with Dispensary
Standards of Operating Procedures at all times.
- Any admin relating to the dispensing
process.
- Disposal of returned and unused medicines
About us
There are 4 partners, supported by a surgery team made up of
salaried GPs, ANPs, Practice Nurses and HCAs. Additional support is also given
by a team of skilled Administrators and Receptionists.
Bugbrooke Medical Practice also provides training for GP
Registrars, foundation year doctors and medical students.
The practice is part of the Blue PCN made up of 5 local GP
surgeries that work together with the aim of improving healthcare for the
community and reducing healthcare inequalities.
The practice is also involved in Research and the benefits
associated with this for future patient care.
The health and wellbeing of staff and patients is always

Job Description:
To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.
To ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and banked and a record kept of all financial transactions.
To endorse all prescription forms as appropriate, collate and forward the forms in a secure manner to the PPA for processing and reimbursement.
To promptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the practice manager.
To operate efficient stock control with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients.
To ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.
To ensure that shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene.
To take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.
To ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and to maintain a temperature control record/logbook.
To maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computers when available and appropriate.
To undertake any necessary work as may be required and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.
