Job summary
We are looking for highly motivated Patient Care Advisor to
join our team. Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the reception
area, undertaking assigned administrative duties, and providing an excellent
service for patients. We are a well stablished, forward thinking and innovative
GP practice based in Tower Hamlets. We strive to offer an accessible, efficient
and high-quality service for our patients.
Main duties of the job
Main duties
include greeting patients and visitors, booking appointments, preparation of
prescriptions, taking dictation and preparation of clinical letters
and reports, liaising with external primary and secondary care services
including hospitals and social services, maintenance of patient medical
records, working with colleagues to meet NHS targets and carrying out
day-to-day duties required of the reception area.

Established Primary Care Team 5 GP Partners, 3 Salaried/Sessional GPs, 2 GP Registrars, 1 Pharmacist, 1 Practice Nurse & 2 HCA'S. We also have a midwife visit the Practice every Monday.
We are a teaching practice and have a continuous turnover of medical students throughout the year.
Active involvement in our Primary Care Network (Tower Hamlets GP Care Group).

Job description
Job responsibilities
- Make new and follow-up patient
appointments in a timely manner
- Receive and direct patients to GPs
& nurses
- Extract patient records as
required.
- File / scan patient records,
hospital letters & reports.
- Maintain accurate medical records
as per protocol
- Prepare reception area for incoming
colleagues, participate hand over between shifts.
- Give out prescriptions after
checking patients identity
- Give out test results as directed
by GPs after establishing patients identity
- Register new patients as per
protocol
- Take telephone messages and general
enquiries; direct as necessary to GPs, practice nurses & practice
manager.
- Action practice notes, and document
all actions
- Attend and contribute to staff
meetings
- Attend training sessions as
required
- Assist in practice audit
- Facilitate teamwork and
communication between all practice staff, attached PCT staff and GPs
- Any other duties which may be
reasonably required
