Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated salaried GP to work up to 7 sessions per week and can offer flexibility around this. We are a well-established and friendly practice located in the Outer West of Newcastle and an active member of Newcastle Outer West PCN. We care for approximately 7400 patients from our purpose built premises. Our ethos is to provide high quality holistic care to our population by professional development of team members and continuous evaluation of our care to meet the challenges of a changing environment. On our last CQC inspection we were proud to achieve an outstanding rating for providing responsive services in particular for our care of vulnerable patents and gained a good rating overall. We were also awarded a Healthwatch star award for keeping patients at the core of our practice during the pandemic.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

To undertake all the usual duties of a GP including telephone, e-consults and surgery consultations, home visits, prescriptions, dealing with correspondence and queries in a timely fashion.

About us

Overview of your organisation

We are a friendly team consisting of 2 GP partners, 2 Salaried GP's, an excellent nursing team lead by our Advanced Nurse Practitioner including a second Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Nurses and a Health Care Assistant, and we also employ a Clinical Pharmacist. We have a full and well trained administrative team lead by our practice manager Diane Vincent. We are fortunate to have access to an expanding team of additional role staff via our PCN including social prescriber's, care co-ordinators, pharmacists, pharmacy technician, mental health link workers, counsellor and soon a dietician and first contact physiotherapy will be joining the team.

HOURS: Ideally 8 Sessions per week, happy to consider part-time/ flexible.

Job summary:

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical responsibilities:

· In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

· Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

· Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

· Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

· Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols

· Providing counselling and health education

· Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

· Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

· Collecting data for audit purposes

· Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

· Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

· In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
