Job summary
St Giles Surgery has been establish in Camberwell for over
30 years. The team moved to a purpose built premises which are shared with our
neighbouring practice Brunswick Park.
Many patients have been registered with us since the onset. We are
patient focused and always try to offer the best possible patient care within
our control. The whole team is passionate about making a difference for our
patients and improving local population health and living.
Our list has grown significantly over the years and has
continued to grow. We regularly review our catchment area, ensuring we are
inclusive and offering services to our immediate population.
We also offer many additional services and are always keen
to pilot any new service that could benefit our local population. We work
closely with our federation and are active within our Primary Care Network. We
try to host as many services as possible as we believe having the services
in-house, enables our patients to feel comfortable accessing the range of
professionals available. We currently offer appointments with: Mental Health
Practitioner, Wellbeing Coach, Social Prescriber, First Contact Physio and a
Care Coordinator. In addition to this we have two PCN pharmacists as well as an
employed pharmacists supporting the clinical team and patients with medication
queries, compliance and monitoring. In
addition to the help and guidance we provide to our own colleagues, we are a
training practice and regularly host trainee placements.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
Responding to medical problems presented by patients on the practice
medical list, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis,
treatment and referral where appropriate.
Establishing appropriate systems to manage common chronic
medical conditions, e.g. asthma and diabetes.
Providing appropriate preventative health care and advice
within the context of primary health care.
Maintaining patients clinical records, to include correct
problem titles, coding of appropriate values (e.g. BP), coding of appropriate
values associated with chronic LTCs in line with QoF and correct use of
templates. Guidelines attached regarding expected standard to be followed.
Maintaining patients confidentiality.
Providing free certification in line with schedule 9 of the
GMS Regulations (1992).
About us
We are located in Camberwell which is an up-and-coming
residential neighbourhood with a good community feel. We have been in our
existing building for 30 years and feel like an important part of our
community.
We have 2 partners 2 GPs and a Practice Manager. Some of our
staff has been with us for many years, with quite a few through to retirement.
Prioritising staff welfare is a very important part of our values and mission,
as looking after our own enables us to be stronger to look after our patients.As part of St Giles Surgery, you will provide NHS primary
health care to patients registered with the practice. This will also include an
equal share of the paperwork, prescriptions, medication reviews, results,
medical reports (as appropriate), and visiting patients at their home if and
when appropriate. You are expected to participate in practice activities
including meetings and audits, as well as taking on a role in the development
of the practice as outlined in your contract.

Engaging in appropriate educational activity in order to
maintain clinical and managerial competence and performance.
On days where PLT are held, the practice will be closed and
clinicians are expected to attend the sessions but to return to the surgery for
a shortened clinic and an equal share of admin.
