St
Giles Surgery is a well-established Practice situated in South London,
providing General Medical Services to around 6000 patients from its
purpose-built premises in Southwark. We are pleased to offer 5-6 salaried GP positions to expand our friendly team.
We are looking to recruit a keen
and enthusiastic GP who can demonstrate commitment and flexibility and share in
delivering a high standard of family medicine whilst maximizing the primary
care business opportunities.
We provide minor surgery as well as a full complement of enhanced medical services; we are a training practice and we are part of our PCN.
Main duties of the job
We
would expect the successful candidates to play an active part in the Practice
daily life including Practice and locality meetings, education programmes and
involvement with local long-term condition targets and aspirations. We would
also look for successful candidates to play an active part in QOF and
population management, on-call and home visits.
About us
We are a relatively small practice and we have quite a friendly team of three GPs, a Practice Nurse, a Healthcare Assistant, ARRS' and good administrative staffs.

Job responsibilities
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
