Job summary

Marden Medical Centre is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dispensary Assistant to join our established primary care team. The post holder will support the safe and accurate dispensing of medicines to patients, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, practice policies, and clinical governance requirements.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Dispense medications accurately under the supervision of qualified staff and in line with prescriptions

  • Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice policy

  • Maintain appropriate stock levels, including ordering, receipt, storage, and rotation of medicines

  • Ensure compliance with legal, professional, and practice dispensing procedures

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to audit and quality improvement processes

  • Provide a professional and courteous service to patients and carers

  • Work collaboratively with clinicians and the wider practice team to support patient care

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good level of general education including Maths and English
  • Recognised dispensing assistant qualification

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Proscript, Golden Tote and Emis is desirable, training can be provided

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in a GP Surgery dispensary or pharmacy preferred

Desirable

  • Experience working with Proscript and Golden Tote preferred but not essential, training is available.

  • Knowledge of primary care systems and dispensing processes
  • Holding a recognised dispensing qualification

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a dispensary, pharmacy, or GP practice setting
  • Knowledge of primary care systems and dispensing processes
