Job summary
A GP Assistant will support
the GPs smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administrative
and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on
patients.
Be responsible for
undertaking a wide range of administrative, clerical and healthcare duties in
support of the General Practitioners and within the provision of general support
to the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Duties can include but are
not limited to, sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GPs in terms
of actions and signposting to other members of the team. Completing basic
non-opinion forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and
sign such as Insurance Forms, Benefit Forms, DVLA, Gun Licenses etc. Preparing
patients prior to going in to see the GP taking a brief history and basic
readings in readiness for the GP appointment.
Dipping Urine, taking blood pressure and phlebotomy. Arranging appointments,
referring patients, tests and follow up appointments as necessary. Scanning and
processing of information and assisting patients as required.
To act as the central point
of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and
enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members
and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
To provide effective high quality and
responsive care appropriate and timely within a safe environment to meet the
needs of our registered patients without restriction or discrimination,
adhering to information governance regulations at all times.
To ensure all staff both clinical and
non-clinical are aware and up to date with all relevant training for their
roles, to ensure safe delivery of services to patients.

Our
current team consists of 2 GP Partners, 2 Part Time Practice Nurses, 2 Health
Care Support Workers and excellent management team with a full complement of
administration support staff.
