Job summary

Academicare are going through an exciting time and embarking on a journey that has already seen us develop new and exciting learning journeys for those that work or aspire to work within Primary Care, Health & Care.

We are now looking for a highly motivated and creative Learning Designer initially for a 12 month fixed term basis, who will join us in the next stage of our journey.

Predominantly this position will help us to convert our current catalogue into digital and blended learning, and you will drive the development of this alongside the Commercial Lead and SMEs.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a Learning Designer who can work with both our clinical and nonclinical SMEs and articulate their knowledge and skills into online learning experiences.

You will be responsible for articulating the vision and transcending this into a well-aligned, relevant learning experience that is underpinned by learning theory and instructional design methodologies and practices.

Our ideal Learning Designer would be someone who has experience in or a keen interest in working in general practice but has an appetite for commercial growth.

You will be learner centred and be able to create engaging content in budget and to deadlines, project management skills is therefore a must.

We are looking for someone who is confident and experienced in using industry standard tools in the learning space and has a portfolio that showcases this. Alongside course authoring (we use Articulate Rise 360) you should also be comfortable in using, developing and maintaining an LMS. Video Editing & Design skills are also highly desirable as is someone who can use Canva.

Core Learning Design/Training Responsibilities:

Partner with SMEs to scope and translate current programmes into innovative learning experiences.

Utilise your expertise in learning theories, online pedagogy, and instructional design methods to craft engaging and effective learning experiences.

Advise SMEs on the development of formative and summative assessments that integrate seamlessly with our online platform.

Participate in quality assurance reviews and ongoing analysis of course performance, offering suggestions for improvements where appropriate.

Oversee the entire project lifecycle of a learning experience, keeping the commercial lead informed of risks, issues, and milestones achieved.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge in learning sciences, instructional design principles, and emerging technologies to enhance both personal and professional development, as well as the quality of your designs.

Develop complementary learning assets that enhance the overall learning experience.

Ensure courses align with accrediting bodies' requirements when necessary.

Develop rapid prototypes to articulate the vision before entering the full development cycle.

Ensure content aligns with learning objectives developed in collaboration with SMEs.

Provide reports on quality, engagement, and outcomes that align with the business strategy.

Identify areas for continuous improvement based on lessons learned and modify processes as needed.

Create exciting, creative, and engaging content that resonates with the intended audience.

Incorporate UX design principles to ensure the learning experience is intuitive and user-friendly.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for learners and instructors using the LMS.

Leadership/Management responsibilities:

Your role as a Learning Designer will not have responsibility for direct reports but will play a crucial role in managing projects related to the creation of learning experiences. Therefore, you will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from discovery and scoping to implementation and evaluation. You will be required to have strong project management skills, the ability to stay focused, meet deadlines, manage budgets, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful project completion. The following responsibilities align with your role as a Learning Designer:

Manage and communicate with various stakeholders to align project goals and expectations.
