Job summary

Jobpurpose

  • To support delivery of safe, effective, person-centred care across routine clinics and long-term condition pathways under the supervision of registered clinicians.
  • To contribute to prevention and health promotion initiatives, vaccination/immunisation programmes, and reduction of health inequalities across the practice population.
  • To maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, accurate clinical documentation, and good patient experience.

Main duties of the job

Perform observations and basic clinical measurements: BP, pulse, SpO2, temperature, height/weight/BMI,peakflow.

  • Phlebotomy and specimen handling; urine dipstick and point-of-care tests as trained.
  • ECG recording.
  • NHS Health Checks and lifestyle brief interventions (smoking cessation,alcohol screening, weight management, physical activity advice).
  • Wound care support: simple dressings, suture/clip removal, leg ulcer care under protocol.
  • Vaccinations and immunisations support within scope and training.
  • Chaperoning and assisting with procedures(e.g.,smear clinics, minor surgery).
  • Long-term condition recall support: gather QoF data, pre-clinic tests, foot checks (as trained), inhaler technique, BP optimisation support.
  • Health promotion, signposting to PCN services (social prescribing, weight management, smoking cessation).
