Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at Castle Medical Practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse with a strong background in long-term condition management, who is keen to develop their career in a practice that values teamwork, innovation, and professional growth.
We are particularly interested in candidates with skills in respiratory and diabetes care, cervical screening, baby immunisations & wound care. An interest in cardiovascular health would also be highly valued, and an independent prescribing qualification would be desirable.
At Castle, youll benefit from protected admin and non-clinical time, regular nursing meetings, and access to ongoing professional development. We support our nurses to develop new skills and would fund independent prescribing training if not already completed.
This role offers the chance to make a real difference to patient care within a practice that is proud of its collaborative, supportive, and sociable culture.
Main duties of the job
As a Practice Nurse at Castle, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality care to our patients. Your responsibilities will include managing long-term conditions such as diabetes and respiratory disease, carrying out cervical screening, immunisations, and wound care, and providing advice on health promotion and lifestyle management.
Youll support the wider team in delivering services that meet both patient need and practice priorities, contributing to QOF, enhanced services, and quality improvement. The role also involves working collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, and practice managers to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
You will also act as a mentor to Trainee Nursing Associates and Nursing Associates, helping them build skills and confidence. If you hold an independent prescribing qualification, youll use this to support patient care; if not, we will provide support for you to gain it.

We foster a genuinely supportive and collaborative culture. Our team meets regularly, with quick weekly nurse check-ins, monthly meetings with senior management, and annual appraisals. We actively encourage professional development and provide opportunities to gain new qualifications.
Castle is a sociable and happy place to work. In December 2024, 95% of our staff rated us as excellent to work for. We host regular, practice-funded social events and maintain an open-door policy where every voice is heard.
