Job summary

Are you wanting a rewarding patient focussed role? Addingham Surgery are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join their small friendly team. Ideally with current experience of working in a medical practice but not essential as full training will be given. The successful candidate will be joining a patient centred training practice in a village setting and work as part of a team of seven experienced committed receptionists/administrators. A minimum of 21 hours is needed worked over 4 days, Monday to Friday. Addingham Surgery is a modern purpose built premises with plenty of free car parking. The practice has 3,400 patients with a growing list.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.

To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

About us

Addingham Surgery is a well-established, friendly teaching practice located in the heart of Addingham Village. We are proud to place patient care at the centre of everything we do, and were looking for like-minded individuals to join our supportive and dedicated team.

Our clinical team includes 3 General Practitioners, an Allied Clinical Practitioner, a Practice Nurse, and a Health Care Assistant. We also work closely with a wider network of healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists and pharmacists, to ensure comprehensive care for our patients.

Behind the scenes, were supported by a knowledgeable and experienced administrative team, led by our Practice Manager and Reception Supervisor. Job description

Job responsibilities

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.

To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system

Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

Signpost patients to the correct service

Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

Clinically code data on system one

Photocopy documentation as required

Process tasks and notifications within the clinical system

Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required

Undertake designated administrative tasks in allocated admin time such as, referrals, registrations, document management, recalls etc

Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary

Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms and support with private report requests

Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

Carry out system searches as requested

Ensure all pathology specimens are ready and collected by the courier

Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

Advise patients of private fee charges, accept payment and issue receipts

Process prescription requests, hard copy and electronically

Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
