Job summary
Firsway is a large practice with circa 15,400 patients based in Sale, Cheshire.
We are looking to recruit a new Salaried GP for 4 sessions per week (Monday and Tuesdays) to join our large, friendly team.
Interviews for successful shortlisted candidates will take place on Wednesday 11th February.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for 4 sessions per week which includes sharing our weekly care home ward rounds with another GP. We
are currently operating a hybrid model with prebooked face to face appointments/telephone appointments and also contacts with patients digitally via an online system
called Accurx Patient Triage. We use clinical systems Emis Web, Docman, Accurx. Your session will consist of patient contacts,
administration/referrals and any home visits as well as the processing of test
results, patient letters and prescription requests.
All GPs undertake
extended hours provision on a pro rata, rota basis as well as a share of the
duty GP role each day which involves an admin session in the morning and then an on-call session in the afternoon.
About us
We are a partnership of 5 with a further 11 Salaried GPs, a nursing team of 6, an experienced Medicines Management Team and a practice support team of patient co-ordinators, administrators and a strong management team. We are research active and are also a training practice for undergraduate medical students, foundation year 2 doctors and GP registrars. In addition, we offer placements for other clinicians in training
including student nurses and physicians associates.
Despite being a large practice, we all know and care about each other and work well as a team. We have a strong patient focus and offer a supportive work environment.
We have a "Good" CQC rating in 2016 and a high QOF achievement.

Sessions
The post holder
will be responsible for sessions as set out in their Statement of Main Terms of
Employment 4 sessions per week are available.
Each session will be for 4 hours 10 mins.
Workload
The post-holder
will be expected to undertake a share of the practice workload including
processing results, patient letters and prescription requests as well as their
own clinical workload and share weekly ward round for care home with another GP.
Surgeries
We have routine available appointments which varies from 1 to 2 weeks. Your session will consist of
patient contacts, administration/referrals and any home visits.
Appraisal
It is expected
that the post holder will co-operate with any nationally run appraisal system.
Extended Hours
It is expected
that the post holder will undertake extended hours provision on a pro rata,
rota basis.
Trainee Doctor/Medical Student Supervision
You may be
invited to supervise ST1/2/3 and Foundation Year 2 doctors and medical students
in the absence of the allocated trainers.
Terms and Conditions
The majority of
these will be set out in your contract. The salary will have been outlined in
the offer of post. Both the salary and terms and conditions will be reviewed
annually. Annual leave entitlement will be 6 weeks on a pro rata basis and one weeks study leave pro rata.

Centre holds regular clinical meetings. The
post holder will be expected to participate in these as well as, primary health
care meetings and any relevant governance or critical event meetings. There is also a daily 10 minute coffee break/clinical
debrief built into morning surgery when you will have the opportunity to unwind
and share information amongst the clinical team.
