Job summary
The working pattern is three sessions per week spread over Wednesday and Friday. The time can be distributed evenly over the two days, perhaps to fit in with school hours, or you could choose to work one full day and one half day.
Starting date: negotiable, ideally Summer 2024, but we are willing to wait for the right person.

Main duties of the job
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Practice Population of 13,500. We cover the town of Ledbury itself plus the surrounding villages and hamlets.
5 Partner GP Team supported by multidisciplinary clinical team of Salaried GPs, Biomedical Scientist, Nurses, HCAs, Paramedic Practitioner, ANP, Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician, First Contact Practitioner, Social Prescribers and Care Co-ordinators.
- Healthcare Navigation/Signposting by trained receptionists as first port of call for all patients
- Utilise online access and services, telephone and video consultations as well as face to face consultations where required.
- Collaborative working with neighbouring practices as part of the East Herefordshire PCN (this has included the recent COVID-19 Vaccine rollout programme)
- Good CQC rating
- Training practice we have a combination of FY2s and trainees at different times
- Consistently high QOF and Enhanced Service performance
- Medical systems: EMIS Web, Docman 10, AccuRx
