Job summary

We are looking for a permanent full time Medical Receptionist to join our team based at The Robert Darbishire Practice, the largest and busiest of the three GP practices within Better Health MCR. The post is 37.5 hours per week; Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:30.

The postholder will be required to work flexibly and to provide cover for absence and busy periods. As part of this, they may be required to work Saturdays. There may also be a requirement for the postholder to work at our other practices from time to time.

Salary will be within the range £24,638 to £26,177 (pro rata) depending on experience. We offer 5.4 - 6.6 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata) and optional membership of the NHS Pension Scheme

Main duties of the job

Our reception team are the first point of contact for our patients and play an important role in understanding patients needs, resolving queries, dealing with prescription requests and either booking an appointment with the most appropriate clinician at the practice or signposting the patient to a service outside the practice.

You dont need to have worked in healthcare before as long as you have excellent people skills, a good attention to detail and you are willing and eager to learn new skills. We will provide in-house training and support.

We operate three GP practices: The Robert Darbishire Practice in Rusholme Health Centre (which is also head office) and which has a branch at The University of Manchester, Brooklands Medical Practice in Wythenshawe and The Whitswood Practice in Alexandra Park Health Centre. In total we have over 44,000 patients.

Our patients are very diverse and include established communities as well as new communities from all over the world. We have good links with the University and a sizeable student population.

Our staff team of about 120 people has a huge range of fantastic skills and experience. We are also our own Primary Care Network, which means our shared (ARRS) staff are fully integrated into our services, providing a seamless service for patients.
