Job summary
Middleton Lodge Practice is looking for a trained HCA to work 16 hours over two days under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the
practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for
performing venepuncture, basic observations, ECG's, Long term condition reviews, Injections, NHS Health Checks and wound care as requested by the clinical
team, to the entitled patient population.
In addition, the HCA will be expected to support the nursing
team on an as required basis. The successful applicant will work with the surgery to complete our mission statement;

Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of
the HCA. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other
tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing
levels:
a.
Obtaining
patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b.
Performing
venepuncture, basic observations, ECG's, Long term condition reviews, Injections, NHS Health Checks and wound carein accordance with practice protocols
c.
Maintaining
accurate patient records on System One
d.
The
correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
e.
Effective
use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
f.
Ensuring
samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
g.
Maintaining
an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at Sherwood Forest Hospitals
h.
Working
collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for
patient related matters
i.
Working
within practice policies e.g. information gov and Infection control
In addition to the primary responsibilities,
the HCA may be requested to:
a.
Participate
in practice audit as directed by the audit lead
b.
Participate
in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
c.
Support
and participate in shared learning within the practice
d.
Complete
opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
About us
Our surgery is located in a rural ex mining village, we house near 40 staff members including - 3 GP partners, 4 GPs 2 ANP's 4 nurses, 4 health care assistants and an full complement of administration workers including PCN ARRS staff.We are a friendly practice with many staff members boasting 20+ years service with the surgery and are looking for another fitting staff member to join the band.
