Job summary

Foundry is an innovative and ambitious single Practice PCN, located in the beautiful market town of Lewes, part of the outstanding South Downs National Park and just 7 miles from the vibrant city of Brighton and the south coast.

Foundry is looking to appoint a Managing Director to provide leadership to the senior management team and oversee all aspects of Foundry business including financial planning, strategy and transformation, operational delivery and quality/compliance. This role is crucial to ensuring continuation of our culture of continuous improvement and excellent patient-centred care. Main duties of the job

Provide leadership and oversee delivery of all aspects of Foundry business including financial planning and management, strategy and transformation, operational delivery and quality/compliance. Working closely with the Clinical Execs and Senior Management Team, ensure there is a culture of continuous improvement and excellent patient-centred care, which not only adheres to, but helps to define national best practice. Regularly review and refine the leadership/organisational structure and governance mechanisms and continuously develop capacity/capability across the whole organisation.

Financial Strategy and Management

Maintain a rolling financial plan detailing income, expenditure and Partner profit. Predict and plan for financial opportunities and threats and proactively adopt strategies for maximising Practice revenue.

Recommend annual budgets for Partner sign off and present reports to the bi-weekly Management Committee (MC) and quarterly Partners Meetings (PM) on I&E, variance and mitigating actions.

Provide leadership and oversight of the finance team to ensure robust and effective tracking and management of all incoming and outgoing finances and Partnership reporting requirements.

Lead on escalated contractual issues and risks, understand and proactively plan for changes to national and local contracts.

Lead on commercial and business development, seek and develop new opportunities for revenue wherever possible.

Operational Delivery

Working closely with the Operational Manager, Clinical Director and Lead Nurse, provide support and leadership to delivery of all clinical care across our four sites, 6 days/week.

Provide leadership and oversee the ongoing and continuous improvement of Foundrys digital tools and data dashboard to track metrics on patient demand, workforce capacity and planning and service delivery and quality. Ensure data is routinely captured against key national indicators and reviewed at MC and PMs so that any trends or issues can be identified and solutions developed.

Provide leadership and direction to the Patient Services Manager ensuring all aspects of reception and patient administration are efficient and effectively managed.

Oversee site operations, ensuring building are fit for purpose, compliant with regulations and provide a positive environment for patients.

Liaise with Human Nature, the Council, ICB and other key stakeholders as appropriate on the development and delivery of a co-located Health Hub for Foundry in Lewes. Take a lead in scoping and overseeing the delivery of short, medium and long term contingency plans for premises solutions where necessary. Project manage the re-location of services and people in line with agreed timetable

Strategy & Transformation

Working closely with the PCN Clinical Director, help guide the strategic direction of the Partnership. Take a lead in continuously horizon scanning for examples of better practice, new national guidance and emerging strategic direction so that Foundry is in the best place possible to capitalise on opportunities for continuous improvement.

Working with the Clinical Directors and Senior Management Team, ensure regular, consistent and high quality data inform transformational change ideas, business cases and operational activities.

Forge and maintain excellent working relationships at a local level with neighbouring Practices, GP Federations, other local health and care partners, Sussex ICB and national organisations. Look to promote the work of Foundry through membership/involvement in national primary care programmes and representative bodies.

Represent Foundry and General Practice, take an active role in shaping the development of future models of integrated care, including opportunities arising from ICTs.

Provide leadership and oversight of the Digital & Transformation Lead ensuring opportunities for digital innovation are harnessed to deliver a more efficient and better quality service to our patients.

Ensure a robust project management approach underpins Foundrys change initiatives (as well as BAU). Provide support and leadership to the Portfolio Management Office and create annual improvement programmes, embed standardised documentation and policies/processes throughout the business planning cycle.

Governance & Accountability

Co-ordinate and manage fortnightly Management Committee and quarterly Partnership Meetings. Develop annual forward planners and ensure timely, high quality reports and papers are disseminated in line with standardised agendas and format.

Chair weekly Management Team meetings with members of the Senior Management Team to enable proactive identification of issues and mutual support across the team.

Organise and lead quarterly individual site meetings with Partners so that the specific needs and experiences of each surgery can be fed into the Management Committee and two-way communication between Partners and the MC is maintained.

Be responsible for keeping the Partnership Agreement updated in line with any changes and national best practice.

Compliance & Quality

Provide leadership and direction to the Business Manager ensuring all aspects of regulation, compliance, quality and assurance are properly planned and reported on.

Take a lead in patient engagement activities ie:

Ensuring Foundry manages complaints, significant events and feedback in a constructive and timely manner, taking the learning and embedding any change necessary;

Leading the quarterly Patient Reference Group meetings,

Embedding patient co-production in change programmes;

Leading on an annual programme of patient events and outreach activities.

Leadership, Culture & Organisational Development

Modelling a compassionate leadership style in which everyones contribution is valued.

Facilitate a supportive, kind culture were people work hard, pitch in and support each other and are also prepared to hold each other accountable.

Line manage the six members of the Senior Manager team (Org Chart attached). Conduct regular 1-1s and reviews and adopt a coaching approach to personal development. Build a cohesive and supportive team approach to leadership of the wider organisation.

Act as a key point for advising on and escalating HR issues relating to eg performance, sickness and conduct. Ensure organisational policies and procedures are regularly kept up to date, understood and adhered to by all team leaders.
