Job summary

We are looking for caring, compassionate and experienced Phlebotomist/Healthcare Assistant to be part of our dedicated and hard working nursing team.

Working closely with and under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Phlebotomist/Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Duties and responsibilities:

The majority of this role will consist of venepuncture for routine and urgent samples.

Essential clinical duties

  • Venepuncture
  • INR POC testing
  • Sample handling
  • BP, BMI
  • Basic observations

Desirable

  • ECGs
  • Wound care and dressings
  • Flu vaccination support
  • Chronic disease clinic support
  • New Patient Health checks

Other responsibilities include the following:

  • Act as a chaperone when required
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

  • Willingness and ability to undergo training and continuously develop skills
