Undercliffe Surgery are looking for a highly motivated General Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will deliver 8 sessions per week, however we are willing to consider two candidates each delivering between 4 - 6 sessions per week Monday - Friday.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be expected to deal with a wide range of health needs and undertake responsibilities associated with working in a primary care setting.
In accordance with the practice timetable, the post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, dealing with paperwork, reports and queries.
About us
We are patient centred practice in the heart of Heckmondwike with a list size of around 10,700 patients.
We are a GP training practice with an excellent supportive team of 2 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GP's and an advanced Practitioner. We also have a Nursing team consisting of 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Trainee Nursing associates and 2 Healthcare Assistants along with administrative and managerial staff providing a high quality of care to our patients.
We work closely with our neighbouring practices in the area within our PCN, Spen Health and Wellbeing primary care network to provide a high level of care to our patients and access to services within the community.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:-
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
. In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
. Providing counselling and health education.
. Referring to other care providers as appropriate.
. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
. Delivering enhanced services.
. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
. Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
. In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

. Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
