Job summary
Hoyland Medical Practice is looking for a medical receptionist to work 24 hours per week to compliment our team.
The post holder must be flexible and available 8 am-6.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients and all members of the Primary Care Team.
Main duties of the job
- Act as a focal point of communication
- Be
able to cover all reception positions as necessary
- Process
appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
- Receiving
patients consulting with members of Practice team
- Process
repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines.
About us
We are a large teaching practice with approx 12,800 patients.
Our practice team consists of:
3 Partners, 4 Salaried GP's, 3 GP Trainees, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant, 1GP Assistant & a full admin & reception team.

have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
- To
work in accordance of written protocols
- Pulling/filing
notes and update as necessary
- Photocopy as requested
- To
gain competency with computer system Emis Web
Reception
- Receiving
patients consulting with members of Practice team
- Handing
completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address
- Be
able to cover all reception positions as necessary
Appointments
- Process
appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
- Deal
with visits requests
Computer
- Registration
of new patients computer data entry and medical records.
- Process
patients change of address computer data and medical records (have
knowledge of Practice area).
- Process
repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines.
- Send emails and deal with incoming emails appropriately
Telephone
- Have
working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours.
Other Tasks
- Clear
rooms after surgeries
- Ensure
building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm.
- Make
refreshments for clinical / administrative staff
- Any
other tasks allocated by managers
