Job summary

The Tutbury Practice is looking for a Receptionist/Administrator to work in our friendly village GP surgery. Hours of work would be Monday to Friday 7.45am to 6.15pm. 25.25 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, confident, enthusiastic, can answer telephones in a professional and courteous manner, with excellent communication and administration skills.

We would ideally like an individual with Reception/Customer Service experience in the NHS.

Main duties of the job

You will offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, whether in person or via the telephone.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice.

Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.

Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines

Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures and scanning of clinical documents.

When dealing with patients, you must be compassionate and discrete.

We are a rural practice based in Tutbury, Burton on Trent, with a practice population of over 8,527 patients. Our clinical team consists of 2 GP partners, 3 salaried GPs, a clinical pharmacist and a well established nursing team, complemented by a friendly and established admin and reception team.

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of the role is to:

Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, whether in person or via the telephone.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols

Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate person. Taking messages and passing on information.

Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail

Filing and retrieving paperwork

Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines

Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures and scanning of clinical documents.
