Practice Nurse - Treatment Room

The closing date is 14 January 2026

Job summary

Role Focus This Practice Nurse post will work primarily across the treatment room (three days per week) and long-term conditions clinics (two days per week).

Experience in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC is essential). The post holder will play an active role in supporting and strengthening IPC arrangements within the practice and will work closely alongside the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in relation to infection control governance, audits, evidence gathering, and ongoing compliance with CQC and NHS requirements.

Main duties of the job

This role is for an experienced Practice Nurse delivering the full range of treatment room nursing services alongside long-term conditions clinics. The post holder will provide high-quality, evidence-based care including wound care, phlebotomy, ECGs, new patient checks, childhood and adult immunisations, and cervical cytology, all of which are essential to the role.

The nurse will also undertake structured reviews for patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, and COPD, working autonomously within their scope of practice and contributing to safe, effective care pathways.

A key aspect of the role is active involvement in infection prevention and control (IPC). The post holder will support IPC activity through audits, compliance monitoring, and day-to-day best practice, working closely with the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and wider clinical team.

The role requires confident clinical decision-making, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to clinical governance, patient safety, and high-quality care within a multidisciplinary primary care team.
