Job summary

Purbeck Health Centre is looking to appoint a Salaried General Practitioner to join our established and supportive practice in Milton Keynes.

This is a 6-session post, worked across Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 9.00 am to 6.30 pm, with a 1-hour unpaid break. A clear job plan will be agreed, and the role is well supported by experienced partners, clinicians and the wider practice team.

We are looking for a General Practitioner who delivers safe, practical clinical care, communicates clearly with patients and colleagues, and works well as part of a team while remaining confident in autonomous practice. Continuity, sound clinical judgement and respectful working relationships are important to how we work.

Salary is competitive and will be discussed with suitable candidates. The post is offered on BMA model salaried General Practitioner terms, with annual leave, study leave and NHS Pension eligibility.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide high-quality general practice care to the registered patient population, working independently while being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

The role involves assessing, diagnosing and managing acute and long-term conditions through face to face, telephone and online consultations, in line with local and national guidance. This includes safe prescribing, appropriate referrals, reviewing results and completing associated clinical administration in a timely manner.

The post holder will contribute to the ongoing management of patients with long-term conditions, support health promotion and preventative care, and maintain clear, accurate clinical records.

The role includes participation in practice meetings, clinical governance activity, audit, significant event reviews and quality improvement work. The post holder will engage fully with appraisal and revalidation requirements and contribute to a professional, respectful working environment.

A clear job plan will be agreed and reviewed regularly to support safe and sustainable working.

About us

Purbeck Health Centre is a GP-led general practice providing care to a diverse local population in Milton Keynes. Clinical leadership sits with the General Practitioners, supported by a skilled and well-established multidisciplinary team.

Our clinical team includes Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and First Contact Physiotherapists. This structure allows patients to be seen by the most appropriate clinician and supports safe, efficient care delivery.

The practice is supported by a Practice Manager and a trainee Deputy Practice Manager, alongside a strong administrative function. We actively support training and development, including structured programmes for management roles.

We are forward thinking in our approach and make practical use of digital tools, including artificial intelligence, to support clinical and administrative work, improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary workload, while maintaining patient safety and professional standards.

Our administrative and reception teams are central to patient access, care navigation and the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. We place strong emphasis on clear communication, professional standards and effective teamwork.
