This role is for an experienced General Practitioner who values safe practice, clear communication and working as part of a team that takes care of both patients and staff.

Purbeck Health Centre is recruiting an experienced Salaried General Practitioner to join our established, GP-led practice.

Applicants must have a minimum of 12 months post qualification experience working in a UK GP Practice.

About the role

This role is suited to a confident, experienced General Practitioner who is comfortable working autonomously, managing clinical risk and contributing to the smooth running of a busy general practice.

You will provide high-quality general medical services to the registered patient population and deliver safe, effective clinical care in line with professional and contractual standards.

Key responsibilities

You will:

• Independently assess, diagnose and manage complex and routine presentations

• Manage acute illness and deterioration safely and decisively

• Provide ongoing care for patients with long-term conditions

• Deliver face to face, telephone and online consultations as required

• Prescribe safely and appropriately in line with local and national guidance

• Refer patients to other services using agreed pathways

• Review, interpret and act on investigation results

• Complete clinical administration accurately and in a timely way

• Maintain clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records

• Work autonomously while being part of a collaborative and supportive GP team

• Share responsibility for workload fairly and safely

• Support continuity of care where possible

• Contribute to practice decision-making and service development

• Attend and contribute to practice meetings

• Support, mentor or supervise other clinicians where appropriate

• Contribute to significant event reviews and learning from patient safety events

• Fulfil safeguarding responsibilities for adults and children

• Work in line with practice policies, procedures and current legislation

• Promote a culture of high clinical standards, learning and accountability

• Maintain appraisal and revalidation requirements

Experience

Essential

• You must have:
• A minimum of 12 months experience working as a General Practitioner in a United Kingdom general practice
• Experience of managing a full range of routine and complex presentations independently
• Experience of assessing and managing acute illness and clinical deterioration
• Experience of providing ongoing care for patients with long-term conditions
• Experience of safe prescribing and medicines management
• Experience of completing clinical administration accurately and in a timely manner, including referrals and results management
• Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
• Experience of contributing to clinical governance activity, including audit or quality improvement
• Experience of providing day-to-day clinical leadership, leading by example and supporting colleagues where appropriate

Desirable

• You may also have:
• More than 12 months experience working in a United Kingdom general practice
• Experience of managing high clinical workload or complex patient populations
• Experience of clinical triage and duty doctor work
• Experience of mentoring, supervising or supporting less experienced clinicians
• Experience of leading or contributing to service development or pathway redesign
• Experience of quality improvement work beyond routine audit
• Experience of working across a wider primary care team or network
• Experience of using digital tools to support efficiency and safe workload management

Qualifications

Essential

• You must:
• Be a fully qualified General Practitioner with full registration with the General Medical Council
• Be included on the National Performers List and eligible to practise independently in the United Kingdom
• Have completed a minimum of 12 months working in a United Kingdom general practice
• Be up to date with appraisal and revalidation requirements
• Hold appropriate professional indemnity cover
• Deliver safe, high-quality clinical care across acute and long-term conditions
• Prescribe confidently and appropriately in line with current guidance
• Demonstrate sound clinical judgement and the ability to manage risk and uncertainty
• Provide clinical leadership within the practice, leading by example in standards of care, professionalism and decision-making
• Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, clinicians and the wider team
• Maintain accurate, timely and well-structured clinical records
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Understand and meet safeguarding responsibilities for adults and children
• Work in line with professional standards, practice policies and current legislation
