Hours -Reception
hours minimum of 10.5 hrs per week.
Salary -Receptionist
starting wage £12.55 per hour. There may also be an opportunity for secretarial
hours for the right candidate, hourly rate dependent on experience.
As
a GP Practice Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for
patients, providing excellent customer service and administrative support to
ensure the smooth running of the practice. The role requires someone with
strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask
in a fast-paced environment
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities Reception:
Greeting patients and handling
telephone/email enquiries in a professional & friendly manner
Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments using our clinical system
Processing prescriptions, referrals, and other administrative tasks
Handling patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy
Supporting clinicians with administrative tasks, including medical coding and
summarising records
Previous experience in a GP surgery or
healthcare environment (desirable but not essential)
Key Responsibilities Secretarial:
Typing, transcription, and
minute-taking
Generating referrals via WCCG
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Familiarity with clinical
coding (e.g., Read Codes, SNOMED)
Experience with medical research or audit work within a healthcare
setting
Proficiency in IT systems and ability to quickly learn practice software (EMIS)
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
