Job summary

We are a friendly Practice looking to appoint a hardworking and enthusiastic medical receptionist to join our existing team at Euxton medical Centre.

This role is predominantly focused on day-to-day patient care and communication which can be challenging at times but also very rewarding.

The right person for this role will be able to work under pressure, communicate well and be efficient in IT. The ideal candidate will also be fully flexible and able to cover holidays and sickness.

The successful candidate will support our current team of receptionists and clinicians. 

Main duties of the job

The duties will include liaising with patients, attending to enquiries both over the phone as well as face to face. You will also manage the booking of appointments and cancelling of appointments for clinics in addition to dealing with all tasks generated by the GPs, issuing of prescriptions, scanning and recoding.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system.

Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments.

Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately.

Process repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently

Signpost patients to the correct service

Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

Read code data on EMIS Web

Photocopy documentation as required

Input data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary

Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors’ letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team

Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

Support administrative staff, providing cover during staff absences

Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient’s healthcare records

Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
