Job summary

We are looking to recruit a part-time Receptionist/Administrator to join our GP practice.

This post is 22 hours to be worked between the hours 07.45-18.30 Monday to Friday. Successful applicants are expected to provide cover for annual leave/sickness.

You would need excellent communication and listening skills. It is expected that you will conduct yourself with tact, sympathy, and efficiency and remain pleasant at all times. Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional.

All patients diagnosis and treatments must be held in the strictest confidence at all times.

Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors.

Main duties of the job

No previous GP Practice experience required as training will be provided for the right candidate. You must be an enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible and reliable person with the ability to use your own initiative.

We are a friendly and well established practice, we comprise of 1 GP Lead Partner, 1 Salaried GP, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner Partner, a Practice Nurse, a GP assistant and a small team of Reception/Administrative Staff with a list size of 4200 patients.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Opening/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols

To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures

Booking appointments using computerised system

Handle general enquires via telephone and face to face

Take accurate messages and relay to appropriate person

Process repeat and acute prescriptions

Preparation of appropriate recall letters

Dealing with clinical waste

Handling incoming samples

Action referrals

New patient/online registration

Process patients change of address (Knowledge of practice area)

Scanning, attaching, downloading, and filing letters

Obtaining information and results from outside agencies

Keeping the reception area clean and tidy, stock check, all posters/leaflets UpToDate

Checking fridges

Attend/Complete Mandatory training

Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required.

Opening post

Data input of all relevant information using read codes

General use of Microsoft office

Prioritising tasks from different systems

To deal with queries from the practice website
