Forest Medical has an exciting opportunity and we are currently looking for a GP receptionist to join our friendly GP Practice. Forest Medical is situated near Mansfield Town Centre with a branch surgery site at Oak Tree Lane.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure and effective and efficient reception service is offered to patients and any other visitor to the practice.
- Action repeat prescription requests
- Book, cancel and rearrange appointments for clinical staff
- Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures and arrange appointments as required
- Being flexible and able to cover sickness and annual leave is essential
- Undertake additional duties appriopriate to this role as directed by the partners and practice management.

- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients who need an urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
- Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Enter requests for home visits ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor
- Process and action repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines and ensure that they are processed within 48 hours.
- Action requests for ambulance transportation
- Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
- Uphold and abide to agreed Practice Patients Charter and assist in the distribution of relevant Practice leaflets, Research information, Health Promotion questionnaires etc to patients.
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services. Accept payment and issue receipts.
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures.
- Administer the practices call recall systems for disease management and vaccinations.
