Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Nursing Associate to join our Practice team. We are a high achieving and very well regarded training practice in Sale, Trafford

You will benefit from working as part of a supportive team along side our Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistant. We undertake all aspects of practice nursing, covering a wide range of chronic disease management and health promotion.

This role will provide support to the Practice Nurses and General Practitioners to ensure provision of holistic and person centred care for our patient population.

The successful candidate will be a registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register. You will also hold a Nursing Associate Foundation Degree/Apprenticeship qualification

Main duties of the job

  • To assist and perform routine nursing tasks related to patient care, such as routine BP checks, ECG, BMI
  • To support patients to improve and maintain their health and wellbeing
  • Following training and competency assessment, to undertake adult NHS immunisation programmes
  • To undertake the collection of pathological & microbiology specimens
  • To support chronic disease management
  • To provide general health promotion education
  • Provide contraception advice and sexual health guidance in line with competency.
  • In line with national guidance and with recognised competency-based training, undertake screening programs such as cervical screening tests.
  • To undertake any investigatory test, such as Ambulatory BP monitoring and Spirometry
  • To maintain effective infection control measures in line with local guidelines and practice policy.
  • To participate in developments within the practice and support QOF requirements.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping on our medical record system, as per NMC guidelines.
  • Recognise and understand the importance of observing, documenting and communicating the signs and symptoms of child and adult abuse.
  • Attend and actively participate in practice meetings as required.

We are a friendly and supportive GP practice located in Sale, Trafford with 13000 patients. Our clinical team includes 10 GPs, GP Specialty Trainees, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistant, Pharmacists and First Contact Practitioners. We deliver a highly efficient and responsive service to our patients and have recently received excellent feedback from our patients on the National GP survey.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • The Nursing Associate will receive an induction programme as a basic introduction to general practice at the beginning of their employment
  • The Nursing Associate will be supervised, and given guidance by members of the relevant nursing, medical, manager and administrative staff
  • The Nursing Associate will attend training courses relevant to their needs and duties expected of them.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To assist in the care of practice patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education
  • To provide health promotion and lifestyle advice to patients and to be familiar with services provided by relevant local and community organisations
  • To assist with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • To undertake specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual. For example:
  • BP Monitoring
  • ECG Recording
  • Urinalysis
  • Weight Monitoring
  • Temperature and Pulse recording
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Prepare and assist in clinical sessions as directed by clinicians (eg Minor surgery; Coil & Implant clinics)
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage monitoring and recording
  • Vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Comply with practice guidelines for Infection Control
