Practice Manager

Job summary

We are a small student based GP surgery in the heart of Cardiff, with an approximate list size of 6500 patients . We are seeking an organised, proactive, and personable Practice Manager to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of our practice. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to ensure operations run efficiently, patients receive excellent service, and compliance standards are maintained.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities(not exhaustive)

  • Manage and coordinate daily operations of the practice
  • Oversee administrative processes, including scheduling, billing, and record-keeping
  • Lead and support the practice team, including recruitment, training, and appraisals
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and quality standards
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and service quality
  • Handle patient enquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally
  • Managing and processing claims

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a management or senior administrative role (healthcare setting desirable but not essential)
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and practice management software (or ability to learn quickly)
  • Understanding of compliance and data protection requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

We are a small, friendly and supportive team consisting of two GP's, one Nurse and four reception/admin staff. Our focus is on delivering high- quality, personalised care to our patients and we take pride in creating a possitive collaborative working environment.
