Job summary

Mersham Medical Centre is looking for an experienced and confidentReception Managerto lead our busy front-of-house team and support the smooth running of our practice. This is a key leadership role for someone passionate about delivering an outstanding patient experience while ensuring efficient and professional reception services.

You should have:

  • Previous experience in a senior reception or supervisory roleexperience within a GP practice is highly desirable

  • Strong knowledge ofEMISandDocman, and experience managing staff sickness and pay processes

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and support a team

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills

  • Experience managing appointment diaries, patient queries, and complex scheduling

  • A calm, professional approach with the ability to manage a busy front-of-house environment

  • Strong IT proficiency, multitasking ability, and attention to detail

Main duties of the job

As the face of our practice, you will play a vital role in ensuring exceptional patient care and effective day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for leading the reception team, managing workflows, and maintaining high standards across all front-of-house activity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, supervising, and developing the reception team

  • Organising the reception rota, arranging cover, and managing annual leave

  • Monitoring and managing staff sickness, ensuring accurate processes and reporting

  • Completing all HR-related checks and duties, including maintaining up-to-date training and mandatory learning records

  • Montly payroll

  • Overseeing all daily reception operations and ensuring a smooth patient journey

  • Managing appointment diaries across a busy GP practice

  • Ensuring timely and effective handling of patient enquiries

  • Collating staff working hours and payroll-related information for submission to the payroll team

  • Monitoring QOF-related administrative tasks and ensuring the reception team remain compliant and up to date

  • Overseeing stock management, including stationery checks and placing orders

  • Collaborating closely with the wider clinical and management team to support effective service delivery
