£11,759 - £12,229 annual sessional rate
Scarborough Medical Group is a successful and highly regarded training
practice based in the beautiful coastal town of Scarborough on the North
Yorkshire Coast. Due to maternity leave, we are seeking to recruit a newly
qualified or salaried GP to join our friendly team from the beginning of July
2026.
With a patient list size
of 16,500 patients, Scarborough
Medical Group operates from two surgeries to the North and South of the town,
with easy access to beaches, moorlands and forests. Our location will support individuals who
enjoy an active and outdoor lifestyle in their free time.
We are part of a strong, collaborative Primary Care Network and enjoy
good working relationships with colleagues in the other Practices as a result.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work alongside our allied healthcare
professionals and multi disciplinary teams to provide general medical services
to patients with a truly diverse range of healthcare needs.

We enjoy full nursing team support including advanced clinical practitioners, nurse practitioners, specialist practice nurses and healthcare assistants. The patient support team and administrative, clerical teams work hard to support our GP's and patients.

Job responsibilities
Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the
core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where appropriate
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the
post-holder will make him or her-self available to undertake a variety of duties
including face to face consultations, telephone or online consultations and
queries, visiting patients at home, dealing with queries, paperwork and
correspondence in a timely fashion
To record clear and contemporaneous electronic
consultation notes to agreed standards using SystmOne
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to
presenting problems, whether self- referred or referred from other health care
workers within the organisation
Supporting the training aspect of the Practice by
assisting with debriefs and supervision for trainees at various stages in their
medical careers
Assessing the health care needs of patients with
undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early
signs of illness
In consultation with patients and in line with current
Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload
and referring to other care providers as appropriate
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat
prescriptions - avoiding hand- written prescriptions whenever possible,
Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing
formulary or generically whenever this is clinically appropriate
In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake
all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within
primary care.
