Ariel Healthcare

GP Salaried / Partner

The closing date is 31 January 2026

Job summary

Ariel Healthcare is a dynamic and innovative practice based in the South Somerset Countryside town of Chard. Chard has a small-town feel and close-knit community. We are on the border of both Devon and Dorset, on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, just off the A303 trunk road to London and benefit from good transport links to Taunton and Yeovil. The UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast, Exmoor and the Somerset Levels are all only half an hours drive away, allowing for plenty of lifestyle and downtime opportunities.

Due to retirement, we are keen to find the right person to further enhance our GP team. We focus on the quality of the care we provide to our patients and encourage continuity of care throughout our patient population. We have named GP lists, aiming for the small practice feel but with the benefits of a large practice team for support. With urgent care being separately managed, routine surgeries can be spent focusing on the quality and continuity of patient care.

2 sites within walking distance and plans for a new build surgery within the next couple of years. The only practice in Chard.

18,500 patients, 96 staff members

Main duties of the job

A dynamic and forward thinking GP to join our close and friendly team. You will be a list holding GP with a focus on routine clinical care spending 1 or 2 sessions a week (pro-rata) in our Urgent Care hub alongside another GP and the associated clinicians. With an admin session (pro-rata) a week to give you time to manage clincial workflow.

This could either be in a salaried role for those who wish it or with the possibility of partnership for those who are seeking more of a leadership role. All offers would be initially for a salaried post. For those wanting more of a leadership role, there would be 6 months salaried mutual assessment prior to consideration of partnership but there would be parity from the start of partnership.

We hold monthly GP meetings for all our GPs, partners and salaried. This is where the day to day decisions are made with regards how GP matters are run. For those who wish it however, the partners hold fortnightly meetings to decide strategic matters and the forward planning of the practice as a whole.
