Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our dynamic nursing team at Ariel Healthcare

The role will be to provide excellent compassionate care to our practice population. Ideally we would like recruit a trained HCA but training will be offered to the right candidate.

Personality and a sense of humour are more important to us than qualifications!

Main duties of the job

To work alongside the clinicians in the provision of patient care. To undertake tasks related to the assessment of physiological functioning. To undertake, record and work in accordance with protocols and guidelines for tasks for which the post holder has received appropriate training.

Working across 2 sites, our team of dedicated staff are hoping to find the right person to enhance the team further.

A fully trained Healthcare Assistant undertakes and records the following tasks:

Measurement of height and weight

Urinalysis

Measurement of blood pressure

Measurement of temperature and pulse

Recording of ECGs

Venepuncture

New patient health checks

Cardio call monitoring

Assisting with minor surgery

Influenza vaccination

Carers checks

B12 injections

Taking INR samples and recording results on INR star software. Passing results to duty practice Nurse for review

Clinical Responsibilities

Recognises changes in the patients observations which must be reported and acted on.

Assist clinicians in emergency management of patients.

Enable patients to access appropriated professionals in the practice team.

Act as a chaperone.

Provide relevant health promotion literature for patients.

Clearly present patients points of view to others.

Care Management

Ensure stock items are provided in GP and treatment rooms.

Maintain clinical equipment efficiently.

Follow infection control standards.

Contribute new ideas to improve patient care.

Instruct patients in appropriate techniques or tasks.

  • Evidence of vocational training / continued professional development in an area relevant to the post

  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment
  • To be articulate and able to communicate well with patients, partners and all members of the Primary Health Care Team
  • To have the ability to work accurately with a high level of attention to detail
  • To have a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Be able to reach appropriate and workable solutions by identifying and considering all relevant information, keeping within own level of competence, complying with any necessary constraints, and ensuring all realistic avenues are explored
  • Ready to adapt by being receptive to new ideas; willing and able to adjust to changing demands and circumstances
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • To be equally comfortable working on his/her own or as part of a team
