A vacancy has arisen in our busy GP practice in the market town of March, Cambs for a part-time Healthcare Assistant. The successful candidate will provide support to our Clinical Team, assisting with a wide range of patient care and clinical duties. Applicants will need to be flexible, reliable, and have excellent organisational and communication skills.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will undertake delegated clinical and administrative duties under indirect supervision. You will be an important member of the practice team, working within clear parameters and after appropriate training and competency assessment.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs
  • Administering selected vaccines in line with the national schedule and legal authorisation
  • Administering medications by injection (with appropriate authorisation)
  • Undertaking NHS Health Checks
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients during examinations
  • Processing and managing laboratory samples
  • Maintaining and cleaning clinical equipment and treatment rooms
  • Accurate clinical record keeping using SystmOne and Ardens templates
  • Supporting administrative systems in the practice
  • Signposting patients to relevant services or organisations
  • Attending practice meetings and completing mandatory training

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join our thriving, forward-thinking, and very supportive team forpart-time hours.

We are looking for a hardworking, caring, and motivated individual to join our small and friendly practice in the market town of March, just 25 miles from Peterborough and 35 miles from Cambridge. Mercheford House Surgery is a well-established and forward-thinking GMS practice, caring for approximately 6,900 patients, with numbers steadily increasing as the local population grows.

Our team includes 2 GP Partners, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, and 2 Healthcare Assistants, supported by a skilled and welcoming administrative and operational team. We work closely with the Fenland PCN, which gives us access to additional services including GP, paramedics, pharmacists, social prescribers, and care co-ordinators.

We use SystmOne, AccuRx, and Doctorlink, and are proud to have been rated Good by the CQC.
